RE: On-campus facilities open for student use

While Luther College will not have in-person classes today, the following facilities are open for student use.

Preus Library and the Technology Help Desk are open today until 7 p.m. for student use.

The Dahl Centennial Union will be open regular hours today, but most administrative offices will not be open.

Gerdin Fieldhouse and Legends are open for student use and practice. Check with head coaches for updates to schedules.

Community Pass and employee hours are cancelled today at Gerdin Fieldhouse and Legends.

RE: Campus Weather Update

Following an early morning assessment of campus and travel conditions, Luther College will not conduct in-person classes today, and only select personnel needed for the operation of on-campus services are to report to campus.

While Luther and Decorah were not as hard hit by this historic storm, the overnight accumulations of snow and wind were such that travel to campus for classes is not recommended.

Essential on-campus services will remain open today, including the cafeteria and Campus Security. Students are asked to use caution when moving about campus this morning.

Employees in Facilities, Dining and Campus Safety are asked to contact their supervisors this morning to determine if they will work on-campus today.

Provost Bacon asks that faculty use their discretion regarding whether to cancel classes or to use online resources.

Students are asked to check in with their faculty to assess whether their individual classes have been switched to remote learning or canceled.

Administrative offices are closed.

Facilities personnel will work today to prepare campus for a return to normal operations tomorrow.

As we announced this morning, Luther College will not conduct in-person classes today, and only select personnel needed for the operation of on-campus services are to report to campus.

Essential on-campus services will remain open today, including the cafeteria and Campus Safety. Employees in Facilities, Dining, and Campus Safety are asked to contact their supervisors this morning to determine if they will work on-campus today.

Administrative offices are closed. Employees who work in administrative offices should either work remotely, use paid time off, or plan to make up the missed hours later in the week. Employees for whom these options present a hardship should contact Human Resources directly at hr@luther.edu.

We are grateful for the employees providing essential services who will work on-campus today to take care of our students and prepare campus for a return to normal operations tomorrow.
